The New and Improved B-79

Monday, October 5, 2015

The members of the Gumboro Volunteer Fire Company are proud to place B-79 back in service after its remount journey. The new B-79 is a 2015 Ford E-450 powered by a 6.8L V10 gasoline motor. The 2006 PL Custom Medallion Series body from the old B-79 was mated to the new chassis. The remount saved the company a substantial amount versus purchasing an entirely new unit. After some exterior modifications and a little splash of new red paint, the process of upgrading both the interior and exterior began. Multiple items were upgraded to make the piece more user friendly to both the drivers and EMT's. Interior and exterior lights were improved with new Whelen LED warning and scene lighting, including 2 forward facing Pioneer series LED flood lights. The "Gumboro Express" was lettered to match the rest of the fleet by Ad-Art Signs in Georgetown, DE. Solar shield window treatments were applied by Matrix Window Tinting of Delmar, DE. All the working exterior surfaces were then non-slip coated by Line-X of Delmarva in Salisbury, MD. The remount, body / paint and upgrades were done by PL Custom out of Manasquan, New Jersey and DPC Emergency Equipment in Marydel, DE - Salesman Keith Twilley. The officers and members would also like to thank all those who helped bring this project together and as always - the community for their continued support in helping us help them.
